Cindy Crawford, “One Kiss”, Jewelry at JC Penney – Another Undesigner Celeb Line or More?

Preview of One Kiss by Cindy Crawford at JC Penney, coming in April

Cindy Crawford has an upcoming (April 2010) jewelry collection for JC Penney. She already has a home line for the chain mart and another furniture range at Rooms to Go, a discount furniture-collection store you may or may not even live near, and hence may not know. However in my being able to have viewed some of those RTG pieces, I’d critique them as usual albeit nice with fun colors.

Ella, I, was ready to pass judgment and pass this off as the usual boring, but I’m actually not so sure that is my opinion. The pieces are said to be inspired by Henna, and I do see that, in addition to an actual certain specialness. But what do you think?

“Dread (lock) Santa Hat” !?! – Dread is Right!

dreadlocks-santa-hat

You too can have long white dreads under your Santa hat. Because nothing represents the North Pole like a Rastafarian, especially a really old one.

However if you love that rasta-aesthetic or just think this is too funny, it’s available for purchase from Target.

Michelle Trachtenberg’s Design for Coach. Yeah one. !?!

coach-poppy-michelle-trachtenberg-necklace-bee-blueI was planning (and excited) to write about Michelle Trachtenberg’s collection for COACH Poppy that debuted on December 1st – right after I moved in of course. Delay dispensed with, I’m really disappointed.

It’s really just one design, a very simple bee in blue and yellow costume stones. It’s sold in a necklace, a bracelet, earrings and a ring. But yeah that’s just one small thing for Michelle. No giant shopping spree for fans.

Le sigh.

What To “Pair” with Sock Garters

The consensus is in: amongst a certain fashionable crowd, sock garters are in as well.

What can one wear with sock garters so they don’t look odd or too masculine? Tips are to go vintage, classy, and ether feminine or tongue-in-chic masculine. (Vintage or menswear keep it all in a style family people can recognize and stylistas can admire.)

Don’t forget if you want that lift without visible garters, a longer dress/skirt or pants can be worn (as seen in a few items).

Items in this set:
Dolce & Gabbana dress, 560 GBP
Odd Molly dress, 260 GBP
Ebay.com dress, $135
Modcloth.com dress, $70
PPQ dress, 65 GBP

What do you think of sock garters? How do you think they could/should be worn?

Attack of the Monster Pump! Another Horror Shoe…

camilla-monster-pumps

Camilla Skovgaard fringe pumps

Camilla Skovgaard is an up-and-coming footwear designer. See this other shoe that got acclaim via FabSugar.

She’s gotten a lot of attention already, but this shoe might horrify too much.

I know fringe is a big trend but it seems instead of designers inventing subtle variations they seem to go. all. out!

Out they are indeed, $h-t!

I mean this shoe looks like a mix of Native American moccasin and … furry hoof.

Another scary shoe like the toeless boot. Gosh, which is worse?

Sock Garters!?! IT or $h-t?

When one hears or reads about “sock garters”, that guy, gal, doll or dame may think of any a number of thoughts. There’s probably curiousity, intrigue or the quick urge to flag as fug.

But some fashionistas are already saying they can be at least kinda cute – so while I crave posting a photo of this odd hybrid-accessory (at least they don’t have a weird smushed name like “sarters”), I also should leave this open to public opinion. After all, they’re not necessarily forcing wearers into What Not to Wear-ers. (They can be hidden, but is that the intent?)

For your approval: A y (?) look from indie designer, SWAN clothing.

swan-sock-garters

Key = visible, BUT with heels.

But – mm – I don’t know. We don’t see the whole picture.

Then there’s a whole bunch of garter styles from Sock Dreams, including adjustable banded ones that can even match the knee socks themselves. Better? Worse? (I’m back and forth on those poofy-poodly/uggly ones.)

So this whole new sock-garters-for-women thing: IT or $h-t List?

*Update* The poll is closed. Stay tuned for more on this! Read my suggestions on what to pair/wear with these accessories.

To reiterate either way, just thank goodness our tween-zombied society hasn’t come up with “sarters”.

Or have they?

Dun dun dunnnnn.

Shoo Shopping? Shoe-In Club by Kim Kardashian (UPDATE)

*Update* 7/15/09 (Originally 3/23/09) I’ve seen a lot of Google searches* and website questions about criticism or complaints about ShoeDazzle – and so far I read some say the shoes are not attractive to members, and may be cheap either for the cost or in keeping with the $39 per pair price.

Kim Kardashian, with a team of “fellow” stylists have started the company ShoeDazzle.com. It’s literally, literally a pair of shoes of the month club, and for only $39 monthly for fabulous shoes, with any month skippable.

Weird? Yeah. Kim Kardashian, stylist, CEO – weird? Yeah. The concept is intriguing though, and it just might work well. I’d like to hear reviews (or get a little free membership to review!).

The process starts with a free and fun quiz, but one must register to see results. The stylists see them too and hand-pick (for now at least) personalized selections. My worry would definitely be comfort and a desire for flats and wedges amongst a sea of killer heels. Heck, I’m starting to alter/make my own shoes – starting with a wedding I’m attending. But I digress.

Another worry we’d all have is what brands, what designers?! The only one quoted is Michael Antonio.

Hmmm. I’m just going to have to review him, that’s all. ;-)

The bottom line is that any shoe that will fly with fashionistas will cost more than the $39 monthly fee. And in this recession that actually sounds affordable for those who have any spending money. One way it could help budgeting is that the ladies are not shopping, browsing, on Zappos.com… Not tempted to spend even more. It’s almost saving!

Still for now this is in the questionable category, however at least the service seems totally risk-free with returns, cancellations, skipping months, etc.

Unless I were really brave, I’d wait and see.

*I wanted to post an update to this, because it’s become a popular page. I want to promote it because it’s moved and is causing a 404 from direct links, so I didn’t want to without more info.

Introducing Fergie shoes at shoes.com

My Love Affair with this Shoe will Go the Distance

Badgley Mischka Women’s Carlo Pump

$215.95 by Badgley Mischka at Endless.com

This shoe is so elegant it makes me esteem to be so much classier I must speak in a British accent. Forget that it might actually “p” people off. We all do love that sound.

This pump is to shoes what that British tongue is to accents. That. Good.

It’s raw-edged fabric rosette also makes me say,

“Fray is the new tulle.”

Say it, if you agree this is just as lovely as that so-feminine touch, and say it like a Brit.

Of course, this shoe looks actually more French, n’est pas?

Now I’m all over the place. Which is what Ella cannot be in heels, like this shoe obviously is. Make that my excuse, and not the $216 pricetag. Besides, I DIY. ;-)

True Crimes of Fashion: Toeless Horrors

Independent shoe designer, Annejet Kosters, sure has unique vision for a designer. Blind.

Her bio (translated below) makes no mention that her toeless boot/high heel creations are actually healthy in any means for the feet, she seemingly just likes the look – or hopes to capitalize on what is astoundingly both unique and a trend right now. Yes, in winter we truly see “toeless” shoes. What?!

Surely harmful to both the toes and balls of the feet with bunions and cuts … and to foot phobes, like I, are her toeless bootie and dominatrix boot designs. (Pictured below, respectively.)

People, these aren’t peep-toed booties (as is the actual trend, my friends) – no, there’s no footbed below the balls. Can the women say, “ow! my balls!” for once!

Warning: Slightly Not Safe for Foot Phobes! Read the rest of this entry »
